We were able to watch the Super bowl at our friends house on Sunday! A few friends from school got together to watch the game. It was a blast! Laura is a wonderful cook and had a ton of appetizers plus dinner for us! I brought the dessert, which everyone seemed to like. The guys watched the game, while Hannah, Kayla, and I played dress up and watched movies. I hate to say it, but I really am not a huge football fan. I mean, its ok and I have nothing against it, but I would much rather play dress up with 2 cute girls (plus the football games are not nearly as exciting for Jon to watch when I am there because all I do is ask questions..). I did however watch the last five minutes of the game, which was disappointing for all the guys at the house. It turned out to be so fun and we love our friends!!

About 2 weeks ago, I was able to attend a Spanish Immersion with my spanish class. It was so much fun! It was an overnight event, so we got to stay in some barracks on the Old Fort Ord base about 15 minutes away from school. The idea of the Immersion was to ONLY speak spanish for the 2 days straight. We were NOT allowed to speak any english whatsoever! It was difficult at times, and of course all of us slipped and would speak english here and there. There were activities, games, dancing, music, and mexican food! It was so much fun! I came out of there being able to speak MUCH better than before the Immersion! It's funny...I found myself starting to think all the time in spanish a few weeks ago, and now the past few nights I have been DREAMING in spanish!! HA HA!!

What's the difference anyway???

So yes, this IS another one of those stories that I hate to admit, but I do it so others can have a good laugh (at my expense).

From now on, I'm not allowed to go to Costco anymore. No, this is not a restriction from the management there, but from my wonderful husband. He has his reasons, which I would say are valid- We will go broke if I continue to be allowed in. And NO, its not because I find so much stuff there that I want to buy and end up burning a hole in my husbands wallet....

Ocasionally we go to Costco for things we need in bulk (Im pretty sure thats normal? What most people go there for? Nothing too weird...).Our usual items consist of frozen chicken breasts, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.

My first encounter of stupidity (or, nicely put, an innocent mistake) was probably a month ago when we needed detergent. I picked up a "big jug" of what I thought was detergent, and returned home to find a "big jug" of fabric softner. Now, you may think that this does not sound so bad, and at this point its not. But over time continaully making the mistake of buying the things you dont need or want necessarily, and then having to go BACK and buy the thing that you meant to get in the first place, will end up becoming an expensive habit (I need a breath of air after that long and confusing sentence...)

We went on another Costco adventure about a week ago, with a few items on the list including toilet paper and paper towels this time. Jon does his job of pushing the cart, and I do my "risky" job of picking up the items and putting them in the cart. It's funny that grocery shopping has all of a sudden become dangerous! (only for me, Im sure). So I pick up a "big plastic thing" of toilet paper, and a "big plastic thing" of paper towels, we get the rest of our junk, check out, and leave.
This time I returned home to find 2 "big plastic things" of paper towels, and NO toilet paper!! I HAD to tell Jon immediatley because I knew he would laugh. Such a nice guy. I thought, ok this time I am going to take this big thing of paper towels back, and return it in exchange for some toilet paper. Normally I would just keep them and go "re buy" the toilet paper, but I figured it would take me ages to use up 2 huge things of paper towels. (we are not THAT messy here....)

So, I do my thing, go out of my way, stand in the return line forever, get my money back, and go buy the toilet paper!

That night I came home and opened up both plastic bags(?)...And what do I find???? Now I have 2 things of toilet paper and NO paper towels!!!! I just about died, not of anger or frustration, but more like I could not believe I was or could possibly be this stupid...

So since this story could not possibly get anymore confusing....Let me explain..

Originally I HAD picked up the right items. For some reason when I opened the big plastic bag that has the smaller individually packed rolls in them, I did not see the crack between each 2 rolls, therefore thinking the toilet paper was just a tall roll (normal roll) of paper towels! This leading to me laughing, taking it back, and coming home to more humiliation.

The moral of the story:

1.) I need kids fast so I can tell stories about how cute and adorable they are and not how retarded I AM.

2.) I have learned that I cant handle the "bulkiness" of Costco-apparently that warehouse with all those big boxes and big containers are just too much for me to handle...(Poor Michelle...)

3.) It's a good thing that we have a spare bedroom-to store all the junk I buy on accident.

Too lucky to be HERE!

This past Sunday Jon and I decided to take a drive and enjoy nature. It was a beautiful day in Monterey and we are just too lucky to be able to live within walking distance of the ocean. I feel like most days I take it for granted. We drove south of Monterey, Jon wanted to get some good pictures. He loves photography! We stopped on some high peaks where we could see down to the ocean, and then we walked down to the ocean to take more pictures and enjoy the day. I was sitting on a blanket watching and listening to the waves, just relaxing. I have learned that Jon will do ANYTHING to get a good picture. Earlier in the day he was on edges of cliffs trying to get good shots, and when we got to the ocean he took his camera and tri-pod into the ocean, dodging waves, to get some good shots. Notice in the pics Jon holding it up in the air to prevent it from getting wet. At one point I looked over and saw Jon holding up and empty tri-pod, while searching for "something missing" in the ocean. HAHAHAHA! And then I saw him trudging back with a wet and ruined camera filled with sand. I told him I didnt feel bad because sometimes he does "stupid" or "risky" things JUST to get a picture! Aw, poor guy. Now he needs a new camera.

While we were home, we were able to get together with some of our friends. I'm so sad how fast the time went by, before we knew it we were out of time. We did not get to visit all of our friends like we had hoped. Between weather and 2 Christmases, there was just not enough time to do it all. I am grateful for all of our friends and family! I was able to see a couple of my friends, Melinda and Kylee. I have not seen Melinda's baby Brooklyn since my wedding in June, she sure has grown up! Jon and I got to have lunch with his army buddy who is on a deployment but was able to come home for a break. And we enjoyed going to temple square with Mike and Ashley. Jon's cousin Kristie got married and had a brunch while we were there, so it was great to see her too! We visited a few more friends that I don't have pictures of. It was great to see you Melissa and Matt and your two little boys! Thanks to everyone for taking the time to spend time with us!

Christmas at the Robison's

A few days after Christmas we headed to my house. My family had all of our Christmas presents waiting for us and lots of yummy snacks for the evening! I think Jon had a little too much fun opening presents, I guess he thought the wrapping paper was edible! After we opened our presents we played the game Curses. That was fun! For Christmas Jon and I gave my family "The Price is Right" game for the TV so we played that too! It's just like the show! We had a lot of fun over our Christmas vacation!! It just went by too fast though.

We had a good Christmas this year! It was great to be able to spend it with family and friends at home. We spent Christmas day at the Love's. We opened presents, and then went over to grandma's for more to open. Later that night we had a wonderful dinner prepared by Jon's family. We all sat around the big round dinner table and ate and talked for hours. Jon's dad also put up slide shows on the huge TV in the kitchen so we could all look back on memories. It was a great Christmas! We had wonderful hospitality at the Love's. We sure are spoiled!!
