Practice Makes Perfect

I am not a cook. It's not that I dont want to, I don't really know how. I can't believe I am really admitting this about myself. Every women should thrive off of cooking, right? Ha! The first week or so we were here, Jon cooked dinner every night. Although I know he does enjoy cooking, I started feeling a little guilty and obligated. I don't want Jon to think he married a lazy couch potatoe. So, this weekend we went grocery shopping and I picked some recipes I was planning to make this week. I literally have to read recipes-I'm sure most of you others dont, but I am fairly inexperienced-other than taking cooking classes in high school, and making brownies from a box where the only ingredients are oil, eggs, and water. LOL. I'm not used to cooking for two. My logic has always been, why not make brownies from a box? Making them from scratch is more time consuming, and they taste perfectly fine to me from a box. I guess this is a rude awakening for me! I can't expect my husband to eat reduced fat wheat thins and peanut butter sandwhiches all the time. The other night I decided to make banana nut muffins from scratch. I was torn because I had a mix for banana muffins in the pantry-but, I decided to take the time to make them from scratch. I'm trying to prove to Jon that I really do have potential here. LOL. Anyways, they turned out great. The topping for them was brown sugar and walnuts mixed. I was proud! I know all of my friends are years past this stage of being proud of your first accomplishment in the cooking department. If any one has recipes or ideas they would reccomend, I would appreciate it! And EASY is the key word for me! I need EASY recipes!!

Quality Time Together

So, Before Jon and I moved out here we had talked about getting a TV series to watch together every night, instead of just renting movies. My favorite TV series to watch is "The Hills", such a girlie girls show! It's obvious Jon is not interested in watching my show. I will have to watch "The hills" on my own time. Jon suggested we get Prison Break. We started from the beginning-and I have been absoultely loving it! It is so suspenseful! It really starts to stress me out because I get so into it! Since we dont have a ton of furniture yet, we just enjoy each others company on the Love Sac. I'm sure there are a bazillion more productive activities to do than this, but it's time that I really enjoy being with Jon and look forward to watching "our show" every night.

Still Moving In....

Our cute condo is right by the DLI where Jon and I go to school. We are about 5 minutes away from school. We live on the Monterey Peninsula, walking distance from the ocean. We love our little home! I am eager to start decorating. Jon and I spent the first several days at Costco, Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, and Ross. Jon was great, I drug him to target at least 4 different times and he sat there patiently while I picked out coordinating towels for the bathroom. He even picked out our shower curtain which I absolutely love! We have moved all of our stuff into our house, now it is just a matter of organizing. The worst part! I dont mind decorating, but I'm not looking forward to organizing. I posted some pictures of our house. I will post more after it is decorated!

Welcome to California!

Well, we fianlly made it here to California! We arrived early early Monday morning to Monterey, CA. Right now we are staying with one of Jon's friends until we move into our new place. We actually found a place today, and I am so excited to move in and get to finally decorate my very own place! It was stressful trying to find a place, so I am very glad its done and over with! You would not believe the beautiful ocean views from here! When you drive on the freeway instead of seeing buildings and trees, you see the Ocean! Great views from everywhere! We live in the cutest little city. I love the atmosphere here. There are little streets with coffee shops and bakeries on every corner. Little boutiques and surf shops. So adorable! Every Tuesday evening they have what is called The Farmer's Market. Everyone has their stands set up in the street selling fresh fruits and veggies, homemade jams and jellys, honey and bread, candles etc. I am so excited to go on an evenings walk and buy yummy fresh foods!
We will be unpacking this weekend, and starting school next week. I am finally ready to have a normal consistant routine on a daily basis. Jon and I have a list of goals that we want to get in a habit of doing. Luckily, there is a huge gym where we will be going to school, and we want to start working out together. Ha Ha.
I will add pictures of our Apartment asap! What an adventure we are on!!
